João Veríssimo was awarded the Scientific Prize ULisboa/CGD 2024 in the Language Sciences. It is the sixth time the work of a CLUL researcher is acknowledged in this way since the award was created in 2016.

João Veríssimo was acknowledged amongst the 26 scientific domains considered for the award. "I am very happy to receive this award. I see it as a sign that the University of Lisbon values and promotes internationally renowned research - which is particularly important at a time in which our country disinvests in basic science". The Professor adds that "empirical research, even in the Humanities, depends on collaboration. I share this award with the members of the Laboratory of Psycholinguistics of the Center of Linguistics of the University of Lisbon, and I thank the colleagues with whom I collaborate internationally, particularly Sol Lago (Goethe U) and Michael Ullman (Georgetown U)".

The award ceremony Prémios Científicos ULisboa/CGD 2024 takes place in the Salão Nobre da Reitoria da Universidade de Lisboa on the 25th of June at 6.p.m, open to the academic community.
