Description:

The “barranquenho” can be considered as a south border Portuguese dialect (Alentejo) that presents Castilian interference (of Estremadura and Andalusia dialects).

This project aims at studying the “barranquenho” dialec in its synchronical, diachronical and variational aspects. Related to this purpose, some issues have been already published.

A comparative study with other dialect from Uruguay “the fronterizo”, that presents a similar situation with some Brasilian border dialects, is envisaged.
