Linguistic Cartography of Galicia and Portugal
Goals:
Preparation of an atlas with comments to study the linguistic reality from NW to SW of the Iberian Peninsula through the representation on the same map of the results of Galician and Portuguese languages, which makes possible to initiate contrastive studies to examine the
(dis-)continuity of the linguistic phenomena in either side of the border line.
The materials come from the surveys of the Atlas Lingüístico Galego (ALGa) and the Atlas Linguístico-Etnográfico de Portugal e da Galiza (ALEPG) conducted between 1974 and 2004. The work will provide with circa 150 maps, covering above all phonetic-phonological and lexical phenomena.
