ALE - Atlas of the European Languages
Seven issues published between 1983 and 2007 up until now are the direct outcome of the ALE - Atlas Linguarum Europae. The new empirical evidence brought up by this international project laid the grounds for a new theory about the origin of European languages (ALINEI, Mario, Origine delle lingue d'Europa. Volume I. La teoria della continuità. Società Editrice il Mulino, Bologna, 1996) and for a refreshing approach to Geolinguistics (ALE - Atlas Linguarum Europae. Perspectives Nouvelles en Géolinguistique. Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. Roma. 1997).
Each national committee is responsible for the organization of the data collection in the relevant territory and for the national synteses corresponding to these data.
